Courtship
and mating can produce some spectacular changes. Courtship
may involve complicated movements, touching, vocalization,
displays of beauty, or fighting prowess. Fish in
particular will exhibit courting colors different
from their normal colors. Birds will display with
extended throats or special dances. Often female
animals will suffer quite severe damage from bites
and other courtship behavior.
